Technology is helping bridge the gap between generations the parent-child relationship is no longer about keeping each other at an arm’s length. Shashi Mittal, producer of the show, said, “The Pethawala family represents an evolving pattern amongst contemporary joint families who believe they’re friends first, before family. The show has been produced by Shashi Sumit Productions. ‘Tum Hi Ho Bandhu Sakha Tum Hi’ highlights that you can find unique equations with each member of your own family and be friends with them, if only you keep an open mind.” But in the process, one has, somehow, forgotten to look for meaningful connections within one’s family. Media and social conditioning, over the last couple of decades, have encouraged people to seek out friends who are nothing short of family. Pradeep Hejmadi, Business Head, Zee TV, commented, “In an era of single protagonist shows, where viewers are asked to follow the journey or a hero/ heroine, here’s a show where the family is the hero. In a day and age where privacy and space have taken precedence over bonding and sharing with one’s family members, Zee TV’s new show calls out to its viewers to pause, look at the Pethawalas and soak in the warmth of living together as one closely-knit unit.
The family sells pethas (a variety of sweet) as part of their family business. It isn’t the average larger-than-life joint family, but real, relatable people from our everyday lives. ‘Tum Hi Ho Bandhu Sakha Tumhi’ is the story of the Pethawalas, a family from the city of Agra that has multiple generations staying together under one roof, with each member playing a very unique role that only he or she can.
The show will air Monday to Friday and is set to replace Zee TV’s prime time show, ‘Bandhan’.
After strengthening its weekend slots, Zee TV takes a step towards strengthening its weekday early prime time by launching another fiction show, ‘Tum Hi Ho Bandhu Sakha Tumhi’, which premieres on at 7 pm.
